In this blog, there's a word we mentioned thousands of time - "texture". Texture can be approach by a person through two senses - visual and sense of touch. Visual is simple, you can tell if a fabric is cotton or fur just by seeing it. The sense of touch is complicated, compare with visual it is more intuition. The sense of touch is hard to describe by words.
Back to the question, we mentioned "slowly weaved from old shuttle" so many times is because it is the key factor of creating a unique texture by Japanese artisan brands. To create a unique fabric (Which is visually and touchly unique), the old shuttle has to be tuned countless times, some of the machine might be broken (they are usually hundred thousands per unit). Also, because the machines are old, they are slow. But only these kind of slow and inefficient vintage machines can create a unique texture.
